It was a remarkable outing for Tirex Petroleum and Energy at the 2024 edition of the AOW in Cape Town, South Africa as the global community of African energy stakeholders converged to discuss and nurture partnerships that will promote sustainable development and energy transformation across the continent and beyond.
For Tirex, the 5-day conference was an unforgettable opportunity to discover African energy prospects and network with governments, global operators, and service providers.
Held from Monday, October 7, to Friday, October 11, the event featured key discussions and sessions focused on current industry issues, including the sustainable development of the upstream sector, expansion of gas value chains, integration of renewable and new energies, adoption of best-in-class technologies, and access to finance.
The South African Minister of Mineral & Petroleum Resources, Hon. Gwede Mantashe, delivered the welcome address, while the Secretary General of the African Petroleum Producers Organization (APPO), H.E. Dr. Omar Farouk Ibrahim, presented a keynote speech at the opening ceremony. This was followed by Prof. Emmanuel Ibe Kachikwu, Nigeria’s former Minister of Petroleum Resources and former Group Managing Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation.
Other key speakers at the conference included government officials, international energy company executives, and representatives from investment banks. Notable speakers included Andrew Barry, Chairman of LNG Marketing, Exxon Mobil; Ade Adeola, Managing Director of Energy & Natural Resources at Standard Chartered Bank; Craig Morkel, Chairman of the Gas Energy Leadership Group, South African Oil & Gas Alliance; Bongani Sayidini, COO of Petroleum Agency South Africa; and Amb. Nichollas Agbo Ella, Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Petroleum Resources, among others.
Tirex’s delegates had the opportunity to interact with top African government officials, industry leaders, policymakers, and service providers while visiting various exhibition stands of international and local energy companies from across the African continent.
